A bhajan kutir at Radha-kunda for us to stay at, engaging in bhajana and seva in a conducive and peaceful environment.

A place to meet friends in peace and be immersed in padavali-kirtana and Krishna-katha.

Top that with the messengers of a number of online forums, and it adds up to a whole lot of communication. I type fast (100 WPM), but many letters take more thinking than typing.

We have some books published, but lack the infrastructure to make them easily available on a wider basis. We also have materials that are basically publication quality, but don't have the resources to get them printed. E-books, then, are the natural solution.

Fonts are a concern for anyone working with text transliterated Sanskrit or Bengali, as most available fonts lack the diacritics needed.

I intend to keep working on LOF in one capacity or another for the foreseeable future, as I feel this is one of the most important projects of all things ongoing. How far LOF work is focused on will depend to a great extent on audience support and response.

I need up-to-date hardware to be able to work properly with video.

• Laptop with sufficient punch for multimedia work: ~1500€. (I am currently on Celeron M 1.3 GHz / 512 MB, which is something very different from what I ought to be having for full productivity)
• More storage space (raw DV-video takes 13 GB/h) as 500GB disks: ~200€ each.

Raghunatha Das Gosvami's Vrata-nirnaya-panjika is the Vaisnava calendar of choice, widely popular in Vraja. Unfortunately, it is only localized for Vrindavan. The object of the project is automated production of localized calendars with traditional celebrations.

The Western traditional Gaudiya community is scattered across the globe. E-mail and online forums are often practically the only form of association they get. Yet, the written medium is so limited. There is nothing like personal contact with others, but voice is one step upward from text, carrying much more import. Regular phone conferences should be there to keep devotees in touch with each other and to facilitate a deepening of relationships.

The first of the lot, Raganuga.Org has gone through many incarnations. The core of the site has always been introductory content on raganuga-bhakti. The site also once hosted the Raganuga Discussions forum that was to later become Gaudiya Discussions.

There are a fair number of contemporary or near-contemporary works, Manohara-bhajana-dipika perhaps the most popular of the lot, serving as sadhana reference manuals. There is, however, nothing that'd fit our purpose in English – and the corresponding Bengali works also tend to not be that precise, detailed or focused. Therefore, a definitive sadhana manual is a work in progress.

Date of completion is uncertain – when it's done it's done. It'll be freely available as an e-text, and ideally we'd also like to see someone sponsor the printing to be able to give out hard copies for free. Vaisnavas have explicitly emphasized to me that the work be made available without cost for the benefit of all.

Diverse utilities come in handy. An example is the diCrunch diacritic converter tool. There are plenty of ideas in stock, there's no doubt about that. I don't have the skills to code much beyond PHP/MySQL based web applications, and don't have the time to start studying much more.

Back in the days of Gaudiya Discussions, we had a study group called Nimai's Garden. At Vilasa Kunja, we have (the setup for) a study group.

The problem with online study groups seems to be lack of sustained participation. Low priority for now – will revisit this if interest grows.

There's a lot of recorded material that would be very useful in a text format, both for reading and in subtitling videos. Audio needs to be transcribed.

Many Vaisnavas – Sri Ananta Das Babaji Maharaja as the eminent among them – have requested me to work towards translating Gaudiya Vaisnava literature for an English speaking audience.

A great many titles of interest are there, yet to see daylight as English editions. My Bengali skills are coming to a level where producing fair translations is a reality, improving by the day.

There's no end to text to be transliterated.

Some texts need to be transliterated for including in our publications, some for quick reference in editing and verifying translations, and some for research and archival purposes.

Much of what's transliterated will also become openly available.

Sacred and peaceful corners for conversation are few and far in between on the Internet, the Wild West of communications. Vilasa Kunja is one such oasis, a community-centered arena of religious discussions, also hosting a questions & answers column on Gaudiya Vaishnavism.

Initially started as a closed forum for Sri Ananta Das Babaji Maharaja's disciples, its scope was broadened to accommodate the needs of the broader Gaudiya Vaisnava tradition after the closure of Gaudiya Discussions.

XHK is an acronym for eXtended Harvard-Kyoto. XHK is an extension for the popular Harvard-Kyoto transliteration system, developed to better accommodate transliteration of Bengali script.

The standard is accompanied with XIAST, the corresponding extensions to IAST, the International Alphabet of Sanskrit Transliteration, that on its own is slightly insufficient for the exact duplication of the full range of the Bengali alphabet.
